CREATING THE LID

Using Yarn A and your 4 mm crochet hook, create a MR.

ROUND 1: Hook in 5 SCS inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 5

ROUND 2: SC INC in every stitch in the round (Photo 10). Total Stitches: 10

ROUND 3: * SC in the next stitch, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 4 more times. Total Stitches: 15

ROUND 4: * SC in the next 2 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 4 more times. Total Stitches: 20

ROUND 5: Single Crochet in the Back Loops Only (SCBLO) of every stitch in the round (Photo 11). Slip Stitch (SL ST) in the beginning stitch to join. Total Stitches: 20

ROUND 6: CH 1, working backwards to the previous round, * insert hook into the next stitch and pullup a loop, Yarn Over (YO) and pull through both loops. Repeat * in every stitch in the round (Photo 12). Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Sew the portion of the lid and the container closed (Photo 13). Insert fiberfill until firm (Photo 14). Sew close and weave in any loose ends.

CREATING THE STRAW

With your 4 mm crochet hook and Yarn D, create a Slip Knot and CH 7.

ROW 1: SC in the 2nd CH from the hook and in the next 4 CHS, joining Yarn E in the last stitch. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 5

ROW 2: CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row, joining Yarn D in the last stitch. Turn your work.

ROW 3: CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row, joining Yarn E in the last stitch (Photo 15). Turn your work.

ROW 4: CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row. Fasten off leaving a 6 inch tail for sewing.

With the right sides of the straw facing up, join the long ends of the straw together and sew into place. Attach the straw to the center of the cup and sew into place (Photo 16). Weave in any loose ends.
