Crochet a Ribbon Banner

MATERIALS

8 PLY / DK COTTON YARN

COLOUR: GREEN, OFF WHITE

3 MM CROCHET HOOK

DARNING NEEDLE

SCISSORS


CREATING THE BANNER TAIL

Using your green yarn and 3 MM, begin by creating a slip knot and Chain (CH) 5.

Tail #1: Single Crochet (SC) in the second CH from the hook and in the next 3 CHS.

Tail #2: CH 5, SC in the 2nd CH from the hook and in the next 3 CHS.

CREATING THE BANNER

ROW 1: Turn your work and CH 1. SC in the next 4 stitches and CHS (Photo 1). Turn your work. Total Stitches: 4

ROW 2 TO ROW 32: CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row, turn your work. (Photo 2)

Add more rows to create a longer banner.

Tail #1: CH 5, SC in the 2nd CH from the hook and in the next 3 CHS. Slip Stitch (SL ST) in the next stitch.

Tail #2: CH 5, SC in the 2nd CH from the hook and in the next 3 CHS.

CREATING THE EDGING

CH 1, SC all around the crochet ribbon banner, upon reaching the tail, 3 Single Crochet Increase (3 SC INC) on the tip of the tail. Do the same for the other 3 tail tips.

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Insert your off-white yarn into your darning needle and embroider your choice of word into the body of the banner.
