You can find seashells washed up on the shores of beaches, and these protective outer covering of marine animals often have interesting and intricate patterns. Let’s create the yarn version of the Seashell.
MATERIALS
MEDIUM / WORSTED WEIGHT COTTON BLEND YARN
COLOR: CREAM + FLESH
3 MM CROCHET HOOK
DARNING NEEDLE
SCISSORS
YARN A ( CREAM ); YARN B ( FLESH )
**Create 2 pieces of shell using Yarn A and 2 pieces using Yarn B.
With your cream colored yarn and 3 mm crochet hook, create a Slip Knot and Chain (CH) 7.
ROW 1: Single Crochet (SC) in the second CH from the hook and in the next 5 CHS. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 6
ROW 2: CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row. Turn your work.
ROW 3: CH 2, Half Double Crochet (HDC) in the same stitch, Double Crochet Increase (DC INC) in the next stitch, Treble Crochet Increase (TR INC) 2 times, DC INC in the next stitch, Half Double Crochet Increase (HDC INC) in the next stitch. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 12
ROW 4: CH 2, HDC in the same stitch, Double Crochet (DC) in the next 2 stitches, TR INC in the next 3 stitches, DC in the next 2 stitches, HDC INC in the next stitch. Fasten off and leave a 7 inch tail for sewing.
PUTTING IT TOGETHER
Take one piece each of cream and flesh colored shell and press together with the right side facing up. Sew together in the front loops only. Repeat for the other 2 shell pieces.
Take the now 2 shell pieces (combined) and press together with the cream yarn facing up.
Take your cream colored yarn and 3 mm crochet hook and join together with a Slip Stitch (SL ST)in Row 1 of the shell pieces and CH 1, continue with the pattern below:

ROW 1: SC in every stitch in the row. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 6
ROW 2: CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
