Crab Mitts With the World’s Smallest Crochet Violin

The Crab Mitts, is a novelty and funny crochet project, inspired by Mr. Krabs from the popular animated television show, Spongebob Squarepants. This project is easy to create, using only Single Crochet stitches to create the Crab Mitt.


MATERIALS

MEDIUM WEIGHT/WORSTED WEIGHT COTTON BLEND YARN

COLOR: RED ORANGE

5 MM CROCHET HOOK

With your red orange yarn and 5 mm crochet hook, begin by creating a Magic Ring (MR).

ROUND 1: Hook in 4 Single Crochets (SC) inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 4

ROUND 2: Single Crochet Increase (SC INC) in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 8

ROUND 3: * SC in the next stitch, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 4 times. Total Stitches: 12

ROUND 4: * SC in the next 2 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 4 times. Total Stitches: 16

ROUND 5: * SC in the next 3 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 4 times. Total Stitches: 20

ROUND 6 TO ROUND 8: SC in every stitch in the round. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

MITT (CLAW)

Using the same colored yarn and 5 mm crochet hook, create a MR.

ROUND 1: Hook in 6 SCs inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 6

ROUND 2: SC INC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 12

ROUND 3: * SC in the next stitch, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 18

ROUND 4: * SC in the next 2 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 24

ROUND 5: * SC in the next 3 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 30

ROUND 6: * SC in the next 4 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 36

ROUND 7: * SC in the next 5 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 42

ROUND 8 TO ROUND 9: SC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 42

ROUND 10: * SC in the next 5 stitches, Single Crochet Decrease ( SC DEC ) in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 36

ROUND 11 TO ROUND 14: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 15: * SC in the next 4 stitches, SC DEC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 30

ROUND 16: SC in every stitch in the round.

Join the claw to the thumb part of the mitt with a Slip Stitch (SL ST).

ROUND 17: CH 1, SC in the next 19 stitches, SC2TOG, SC in the next 29 stitches. Total Stitches: 49

ROUND 18: SC in the next 47 stitches, SC2TOG. Total Stitches: 48

ROUND 19: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 20: * SC in the next 4 stitches, SC DEC in the next stitch. Repeat * 8 times. Total Stitches: 40

ROUND 21 TO ROUND 24: SC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 40

ROUND 25: * SC in the next 3 stitches, SC DEC in the next stitch. Repeat * 8 times. Total Stitches: 32

ROUND 26 TO ROUND 37: SC in every stitch in the round. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
