This hair accessory also serves an important purpose—protecting your hair strands from damaging elastics, preventing split ends. This tutorial will show you how to easily crochet a scrunchie.

- MEDIUM WEIGHT VELVET YARN
- 5 MM CROCHET HOOK
- HAIR ELASTICS
- DARNING NEEDLE

EASY CROCHET SCRUNCHIE
To begin, take your elastic band and chain 1 around the band with your 5 MM crochet hook.

1. * Single crochet (SC), chain 3, SC, chain one. Repeat * ten more times. Slip stitch in the first stitch to join.

2. Chain 3, hook in four double crochets (DC) in the chain-3 space,

chain 2, SC in the next chain-1 space.

* Chain 2, 5 DC in the chain-3 space,

chain 2, SC in the next chain-1 space.

Repeat * 10 more times. Slip stitch on top of the beginning chain to join.

3. * Chain 3, slip stitch in the next DC.

Repeat * 3 more times.

[CH 3, SL ST in the next DC, * CH 3, SL ST in the next ST, rep * 3 more times.]. Repeat [ ] until the end of the round. Slip stitch in the beginning chain to join.

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
