ROW 17: With Yarn A, CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row (Photo 7). Turn your work.

ROW 18: CH 1, Slip Stitch (SL ST) in every stitch in the row. Fasten off.

Reattach Yarn B into the the first stitch of the unfinished part of the shoulder pad (Photo 8), CH 3, DC in every stitch in the row. Fasten off weaving in any loose ends.

Measure 6 inches of your twisted oval link chain and attach one end into the first stitch of the first row. Take your jump ring and insert the lobster clasp into the other end of the row (Photos 9 and 10).

CENTURION HEADGEAR

Using your Yarn A and 4 mm crochet hook, begin by creating a slip knot and chaining 2.

ROW 1: SC INC in the first CH. Turn your work.

ROW 2: CH 1, SC INC in every stitch in the row. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 4

ROW 3: CH 1, SC INC in the first stitch, SC in the next 2 stitches, SC INC in the last stitch. Turn your work. Total stitches: 6

ROW 4: CH 1, SC INC in the first stitch, SC in the next 4 stitches, SC INC in the last stitch. Turn your work. Total stitches: 8

ROW 5: CH 1, SC INC in the first stitch, SC in the next 6 stitches, SC INC in the last stitch. Turn your work. Total stitches: 10

ROW 6: CH 1, SC INC in the first stitch, SC in the next 8 stitches, SC INC in the last stitch. Turn your work (Photo 11). Total stitches: 12

ROW 7 TO ROW 19: CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row. Turn your work.

ROW 20: CH 1, SC INC in the first stitch, SC in the next 10 stitches, SC INC in the last stitch. Turn your work. Total stitches: 14

ROW 21: CH 1, SC in the first stitch and in every stitch in the row (Photo 12).

ROW 22: CH 1, SC INC in the first stitch, SC in the next 12 stitches, SC INC in the last stitch. Turn your work. Total stitches: 16

ROW 23: CH 1, SC INC in the first stitch, SC in the next 14 stitches, SC INC in the last stitch. Turn your work. Total stitches: 18

ROW 24: CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row.

CREATING THE STRAP

CH 51 and SL ST in the 2nd CH and the next 39 CHS, CH 10 and join into the 8th row of the head gear (Photo 13). Attach yarn A into the end of the head gear and repeat the same pattern. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

CREATING THE HEADGEAR COMB

Count 7 stitches from the end of the row of the bottom part of the head gear and mark. Repeat for the other side.

Using a smaller hook, insert Yarn B into the marker and pull up a loop (Photo 14). SL ST into the adjacent stitch and pull up an inch long loop. Reinsert your hook into the last stitch and SL ST into the adjacent stitch pulling up a 1 inch loop. Repeat until you reach the marker.

Work the sections of the row. To fully secure the yarn, reinsert into the last stitch worked and create a SL ST before inserting into the adjacent stitch and pulling up a loop (Photo 15).

Once completed, halve the yarn loops and comb separating the fibre strands. Shape and trim.
