Sheepenstein Amigurumi

Crochet this cute and fluffy sheep softie and bring your Sheepenstein to life with his beginner friendly crochet pattern.

CREATING THE HEAD

With your gray coloured yarn and 5 MM crochet hook, begin by creating a Magic Ring (MR) and CH 1.

ROUND 1: Hook in 6 Single Crochets (SC) inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 6

ROUND 2: Single Crochet Increase (SC INC) in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 12

ROUND 3: *SC in the first stitch, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 18

ROUND 4: SC INC in the next 2 stitches, SC in the next 3 stitches, SC INC in the next 2 stitches, SC in the next 11 stitches (Photo 1). Total Stitches: 22

ROUND 5 TO ROUND 6: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 7: SC in the next 3 stitches, Invisible Single Crochet Decrease (INV SC DEC) 2 times, SC in the next 13 stitches, INV SC DEC. Total Stitches: 19

ROUND 8: SC in the next 17 stitches, INV SC DEC. Total Stitches: 18

ROUND 9: * SC in the next stitch, INV SC DEC. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 12

** Your Sheepenstein’s head has a flat and curved area. The flat area is the back portion of the head and the curved portion will be the front part (Photo 2).

Center and attach the safety eye to the front part of the head between Round 7 and Round 8, spaced 5 stitches apart. Insert fiberfill into the head until firm.

ROUND 10: INV SC DEC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 6

Fasten off and leave a 6 inch tail for sewing. Sew the top of the head closed (Photo 3).

CREATING THE EARS (2)

With your gray coloured yarn and 5 mm crochet hook, create a MR and CH 1.

ROUND 1: Hook in 4 SCS inside the MR.

ROUND 2 TO ROUND 4: SC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 4

Fasten off and leave a 5 inch tail for sewing.

CREATING THE TAIL

With your gray coloured yarn and 5 mm crochet hook, create a MR and CH 1.

ROUND 1: Hook in 5 SCS inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total stitches: 5

ROUND 2 TO ROUND 3: SC in every stitch in the round.

Fasten off and leave a 5 inch tail for sewing.

CREATING THE FRONT LEGS (2)

Using your gray yarn and 5 mm crochet hook, create a MR and CH 1.

ROUND 1: Hook in 4 SCS inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 4

ROUND 2 TO ROUND 3: SC in every stitch in the round.

Fasten off and leave a 5 inch tail for sewing.
