Home to the Himalayan region, The Yeti aka The Abominable Snowman, is a mythical, ape-like creature with long shaggy hair, that inhabit the snowy mountains. Sightings of the elusive Yeti and its footprints have been reported, sparking interest in cryptozoologists and adventurers.

CREATING THE BODY

With Yarn A and 3.5 mm crochet hook, create a Slip Knot and Chain (CH) 11.

ROUND 1: Hook in 3 Single Crochets (SC) or 3 Single Crochet Increase (3 SC INC) in the 2nd CH from the hook, SC in the next 8 stitches, 3 SC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next 8 stitches (Photo 1). Total Stitches: 22

ROUND 2: SC in the next stitch, 3 SC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next 10 stitches, 3 SC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next 9 stitches. Total Stitches: 26

ROUND 3: SC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 26

ROUND 4: SC in the next stitch, Single Crochet Increase (SC INC) 2 times, SC in the next 11 stitches, SC INC 2 times, SC in the next 10 stitches. Total Stitches: 30

ROUND 5: SC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 30

ROUND 6: * SC in the next 4 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 36

ROUND 7 TO ROUND 12: SC in every stitch in the round (Photo 2).

ROUND 13: * SC in the next 4 stitches, Invisible Single Crochet Decrease (INV SC DEC) in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 30

ROUND 14: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 15: * SC in the next 3 stitches, INV SC DEC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 24

ROUND 16: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 17: * SC in the next 2 stitches, INV SC DEC in the next stitch, repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 18

ROUND 18: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 19: * SC in the next stitch, INV SC DEC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 12

ROUND 20: SC in every stitch in the round.

CREATING THE FACE

Using Yarn B and your 3 mm crochet hook, create a MR and CH 1.

ROUND 1: SC, Half Double Crochet (HDC), Double Crochet (DC) 2 times, HDC, SC, inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 6

ROUND 2: CH 1, SC in the next stitch, Half Double Crochet Increase (HDC INC) in the next stitch, Double Crochet Increase (DC INC) in the next stitch 2 times, HDC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next stitch. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 10

ROUND 3: SC in the next stitch, HDC in the next stitch, HDC INC in the next stitch, DC INC 4 times, HDC INC in the next stitch (Photo 3), HDC in the next stitch, SC in the next stitch. Total Stitches: 16

Fasten off and leave an 8 inch tail for sewing. Center and position the face in between Rounds 3 to 9 and sew into place. Place the safety eyes in Round 2 of the face, leaving a stitch in between the eyes,

Insert fiberfill into the body until firm. Sew the opening closed. Weave in any loose ends.

CREATING THE EARS (2)

Using Yarn B and 3.5 mm crochet hook, create a Magic Ring (MR).

ROUND 1: Hook in 4 SC inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 4

ROUND 2: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 3: * SC in the next stitch, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * one more time. Total Stitches: 6

ROUND 4: SC in every stitch in the round.

Fasten off and leave a 5 inch tail for sewing. Position the ears onto both ends of round 1 and sew into place. Weaving in any loose ends.

CREATING THE ARMS (2)

Using Yarn B and your 3.5 mm crochet hook create a MR and CH 1.

ROUND 1: Hook in 4 SC inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 4

ROUND 2: SC INC in every stitch in the round, joining Yarn A in the last stitch. Total Stitches: 8

ROUND 3: SC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 8

ROUND 4 TO ROUND 8: SC in every stitch in the round. Fasten off and leave a 7 inch tail for sewing (Photo 5).

Position the arms onto the side of the Yeti in Round 7 and sew into place. Weave in any loose ends.

CREATING THE LEGS (2)

Using Yarn B and your 3.5 mm crochet hook, create a MR and CH 1.

ROUND 1: Hook in 5 SC inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 5

ROUND 2: SC INC in every stitch in the round, joining Yarn A in the last stitch. Total Stitches: 10

ROUND 3 TO ROUND 4: SC in every stitch in the round. Fasten off and leave a 6 inch tail for sewing.

Position the legs onto the bottom of the Yeti and sew into place. Weaving in any loose ends.

Using Yarn A, sew in the details onto the face of your Yeti.
