OVEN ROASTED POULTRY AMIGURUMI

Golden brown, crispy skinned and a delicious dish, popular during special occasions, the oven roasted bird never fails to steal the show. Let’s create this delicious looking amigurumi bird!


TOOLS AND MATERIALS

10 PLY/MEDIUM WEIGHT/WORSTED WEIGHT COTTON BLEND YARN

COLORS: BROWN + OFF-WHITE

6 MM CROCHET HOOK

CREATING THE THIGH PORTION (2)

Using your off-white yarn and 6 mm crochet hook, create a MR and Chain (CH) 1.

ROUND 1: Hook in 4 Single Crochets (SC) inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 4

ROUND 2: SC in every stitch in the round, joining your light brown yarn in the last stitch.

ROUND 3: Single Crochet Increase (SC INC) in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 8

ROUND 4: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 5: * SC in the next stitch, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 4 times. Total Stitches: 12

ROUND 6 TO ROUND 7: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 8: Invisible Single Crochet Decrease (INV SC DEC) in every stitch in the round. Fasten off and sew the opening closed, leaving a 5 inch tail for sewing.

CREATING THE BODY

Using your brown yarn and 6 mm crochet hook, create a MR and CH 1.

ROUND 1: Hook in 4 SC inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 4

ROUND 2: Single Crochet Increase (SC INC) in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 8

ROUND 3: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 4: SC INC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 16

ROUND 5: SC in the next 8 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next 6 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Total Stitches: 18

ROUND 6: SC in the next 4 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch, * SC in the next 2 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 3 times. SC in the next 4 stitches. Total Stitches: 22

ROUND 7: SC in the next 5 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next stitch, SC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next 6 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next stitch, SC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next 5 stitches. Total Stitches: 26

ROUND 8: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 9: SC in the next 9 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next 6 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch, SC in the next 9 stitches. Total Stitches: 28

ROUND 10 TO ROUND 12: SC in every stitch in the round (Photo 1).

ROUND 13: * SC in the next 2 stitches, Invisible Single Crochet Decrease (INV SC DEC) in the next stitch. Repeat * 7 times. Total Stitches: 21

ROUND 14 TO ROUND 15: SC in every stitch in the round (Photo 2).

ROUND 16: * SC in the next 5 stitches, INV SC DEC in the next stitch. Repeat * 3 times. Total Stitches: 18

ROUND 17: INV SC DEC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 9

Insert fiberfill into the amigurumi until firm. Fasten off and sew the opening closed.

CREATING THE WINGS (2)

Using your light brown yarn and hook, create a Slip Knot and CH 5, Single Crochet Two Together (SC2TOG), CH 4, SC in the 2nd CH from the hook, SC in the next 2 CHS. Slip Stitch (SL ST) in the next 3 stitches. Fasten off and leave a 5 inch tail for sewing.

PUTTING IT TOGETHER

Position the drumsticks onto the side of the body between Round 5 to Round 10 (Photo 5) and sew into place. Position the wings onto the sides of the body on Round 16 and sew into place. Weave in any loose ends.
