A breakfast staple rich in proteins and minerals, fried eggs provide us with a nutrient rich meal, sourced mainly from domesticated jungle fowl species, the hen. Let’s create the yarn version of the mini fried eggs!
MATERIALS
8 PLY/DK COTTON YARN
COLORS: YELLOW, WHITE
4 MM CROCHET HOOK
FIBERFILL

THE YOLK
With your 4 MM crochet hook and yellow yarn, begin by creating a Magic Ring (MR) and Chain (CH) 1.
ROUND 1: Hook in 5 Single Crochets (SC) inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 5
ROUND 2: 2 SC or Single Crochet Increase (SC INC) in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 10
ROUND 3: * SC in the next stitch, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 5 times. Total Stitches: 15
ROUND 4 TO ROUND 5: SC in every stitch in the round.
ROUND 6: * Single Crochet in the Back Loops Only (SCBLO) in the next stitch, Single Crochet Two Together in the Back Loops Only (SC2TOGBLO) or Single Crochet Decrease in the Back Loops Only (SCDECBLO) in the next stitch. Repeat * 5 times. Total Stitches: 10
ROUND 7: *Single Crochet Decrease (SCDEC) in the next stitch. Repeat * 5 times. Total Stitches: 5
Fasten off leaving a 6 inch tail for sewing.
Take a small amount of fiberfill and insert into the yolk, careful not to overstuff, and sew the opening closed. Weave in any loose ends.

EGG WHITE
With your 4 MM crochet hook and white yarn, create a MR and CH 1.
ROUND 1: Hook in 6 SC inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 6
ROUND 2: SC INC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 12
ROUND 3: *SC in the next stitch, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 18
ROUND 4: * SC in the next 2 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 24
ROUND 5: * SC in the next 3 stitches, SC INC in the next stitch. Repeat * 6 times. Total Stitches: 30
ROUND 6: Half Double Crochet in the next stitch (HDC), Slip Stitch (SL ST) in the next stitch. * SC in the next stitch, HDC in the next stitch, SC in the next stitch, SL ST in the next stitch. Repeat * 7 times. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
PUTTING IT TOGETHER
Take the yolk and place on top of the egg white. Center and sew into place, weaving in any loose ends.
