Beauty and the Beast’s Enchanted Rose

Cursed by his heartless behaviour, a young prince was transformed into a beast by a beautiful enchantress under the guise of an old woman. To break the curse, the Beast has to learn to love another and earn their love in return. The Enchanted Rose served as a reminder, that if he waits too long, he will forever stay in his beast form.


MATERIALS

8 PLY/DK COTTON YARN

COLORS: LIGHT YELLOW; GREEN

3 MM CROCHET HOOK

DARNING NEEDLE

FIBERFILL

SCISSORS

OPTIONAL: CLEAR ROUND GLASS VASE OR

CLEAR ROUND PLASTIC CONTAINER

PETALS (10 PCS)

Begin by creating a Slip Knot and Chain (CH) 3.

ROW 1: Hook in 2 Single Crochets (SC) in the first CH. Turn your work. Total Stitches : 3

ROW 2: CH 1, 2 SCs or Single Crochet Increase (SC INC) in every stitch in the row. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 6

ROW 3: CH 1, SC INC in the first stitch, SC in the next 4 stitches, SC INC in the last stitch. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 8

ROW 4 to ROW 6: CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 8

ROW 7: CH 1, Single Crochet Two Together (SC2TOG) or SC Decrease (SC DEC), SC in the next 4 stitches, SC DEC in the last stitch. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 6

ROW 8: CH 1, SC DEC, SC in the next 2 stitches, SC DEC. Turn your work. Total Stitches: 4

ROW 9: CH 1, SC in every stitch in the row. Turn your work.

ROW 10: CH 1, * SC in the first stitch, CH 1, repeat * 3 times.

Rotate your petal to start working on the side edging.

CH 1, SC in the first stitch and in the next 8 rows, 3 SC in the first CH, SC in the next 9 rows. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

ROSE BUD

Begin by creating a Magic Ring (MR) and CH 1.

ROUND 1: Hook in 6 SC inside the MR. Pull the ring close. Total Stitches: 6

ROUND 2: SC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 6

ROUND 3: SC INC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 12

ROUND 4 TO ROUND 6: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 7: SC INC in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 24

ROUND 8 TO ROUND 9: SC in every stitch in the round.

ROUND 10: SC DEC in the front loops or Invisible Single Crochet Decrease (INV SC DEC) in every stitch in the round. Total Stitches: 12

ROUND 11: SC in every stitch in the round.

Fasten off and insert fiberfill into the rose bud until firm.

STEM

Using your 3 MM crochet hook and green yarn, begin by creating a MR and chaining 1.

ROUND 1: Hook in 5 SC inside the MR. Pull the ring close.

ROUND 2 TO ROUND 30: SC in every stitch in the round.

SL ST in the beginning CH to join.

SEPAL

CH 3, Double Crochet (DC) in the first stitch, CH 3, SL ST in the same stitch. *SL ST in the next stitch, CH 3, DC in the same stitch, CH 3, SL ST in the same stitch. Repeat * 4 times. SL ST in the beginning CH to join. Fasten off leaving an 8 inch tail for sewing.

LEAF (3)

With your 3 MM crochet hook and green yarn, begin with a slip knot and CH 6. SC in the 2nd CH from the hook, Half Double Crochet (HDC) in the next 3 CHS, 3 SC in the next CH. HDC in the next 3 stitches, SC in the next stitch. CH 4, SL ST in the 2nd CH from the hook and in the next 2 CHS. SL ST in the beginning CH. Fasten off and leave a 4 to 5 inch tail for sewing.

PUTTING IT TOGETHER

Take one of the petals and position with the right side facing towards the rose bud, sew into place. Continue positioning the petals until all 8 petals are sewn into the stem.

Take your leaves and position them into the stem of your Enchanted Rose. Sew into place.

You can add floral wire into the stem or you can tie a string and glue into a tall glass vase or clear plastic container. Scatter the excess petals underneath the suspended flower.
