Delectable Macaron Amigurumi

Known for its crispy, melt in your mouth goodness, the macaron is a meringue based cookie that is visually and gastronomically appetizing. Let’s create the yarn version of the macaron.


MATERIALS

8 PLY / DK COTTON YARN

COLOUR: ANY 2 (Violet + White)

4 MM CROCHET HOOK

DARNING NEEDLE

SCISSORS

FIBERFILL


      MACARON SHELL

      With your 4 mm crochet hook and violet yarn, begin by creating a Magic Ring (MR).

      ROUND 1: Hook in 6 Single Crochets (SC) inside the MR. Total stitches: 6

      ROUND 2: Hook in 2 SCs in every stitch in the round. Total stitches: 12

      ROUND 3: Hook in 2 SCs in every stitch in the round. Total stitches: 24

      ROUND 4: *SC in the next stitch, 2 SC or INC (increase) in the next stitch. Repeat * 12 times. Total stitches: 36

      ROUNDS 5 to 7: SC in every stitch in the round.

      ROUND 8 [THE FILLING]: Join your white yarn in the last stitch and chain (CH) 1. * SC in the next stitch, half double crochet (HDC) in the next stitch, skip the next stitch. Repeat * until the end of the round. Slip stitch (SS) in the beginning stitch to join. Fasten off leaving a 10 to 12 inch tail for sewing.

      Create one more macaron shell using the pattern above. Repeat from Rounds 1 to 7. Fastening off and weaving in any loose ends.


      PUTTING IT TOGETHER

      Press the 2 shells of the macaron together with the right side facing outward. Align the stitches of the filling and the macaron shell. Using the tail from the filling sew the 2 pieces together, sewing on the back loops only. Insert your fiberfill, and sew the opening closed, weaving in any loose ends.

      These amigurumi macarons look so yummy and are really easy to create! Use different colored yarns to represent different flavors for your yarn macaron.
