Eco-Friendly and Natural Cleaning Agent: VINEGAR

A regular inhabitant of kitchen cupboards, Vinegar is an acidic byproduct of fruits and grains that have been fermented to produce the sour tasting ingredient we add to our cooking and pickling.

Surprisingly, you can also use vinegar combined with other home essentials to create a natural, eco-friendly cleaning agent.



UNCLOG DRAINS

Water slowly draining from your sink can be a sign of a clogged pipe caused by blockages, usually food wastes and grease.

  • 1/4 CUP BAKING SODA
  • 1 CUP WHITE VINEGAR

Open windows and doors to ensure proper ventilation.

1. Clean any visible obstructions and remove any excess fluids from the sink.

2. Sprinkle the baking soda onto the drain and pour your white vinegar. Leave for 15 to 20 minutes.

3. Rinse the sink with water.

4. Repeat until water flows smoothly down the drain.


USE AS AN OVEN GRILL AND TRAY CLEANER

Burnt food particles, drippings and grease can be a hassle to clean.

  • 1/2 CUP BAKING SODA
  • 1 CUP WHITE VINEGAR
  • WATER

Properly ventilate the area by opening your windows and doors.

1. Pre wash and rinse the oven trays and grills.

2. Sprinkle with baking soda, add the white vinegar and water and soak for 20 minutes.

3. Wash with dishwashing liquid and rinse.

Repeat if necessary.


GLASS AND OVEN CLEANER

  • 1/2 CUP BAKING SODA
  • 1 CUP WHITE VINEGAR
  • WATER

1. Combine the vinegar, water and dishwashing liquid into a spray bottle.

2. Shake to mix the solution thoroughly.

3. Spray on to greasy and dirty surfaces.

4. Wipe clean and repeat if necessary.


USE AS A TILE CLEANER

  • BAKING SODA
  • 2 CUPS WHITE VINEGAR
  • 1 LITER WATER

Properly ventilate the area by opening windows or using fans.

1. Moisten the tiles with the white vinegar and water solution.

2. Sprinkle baking soda onto the tiles. Let soak for 20 minutes.

3. Rinse and scrub clean.


METAL POLISHER

  • WHITE VINEGAR
  • CLOTH RAG

Dampen rag with white vinegar and dab onto the metal you want to polish. Rub in a circular motion until dirt and stain are removed. The vinegar polishes metals.


DISINFECT KITCHEN TOPS AND BOARDS

  • 1 PART WHITE VINEGAR
  • 4 PARTS WATER
  • SPRAY BOTTLE

1. Combine 1 part vinegar and 4 parts water in a spray bottle.

2. Spray on kitchen tops and cutting boards after every use.
