
ALTERNATE CROCHET STITCH

Using pairs of Single Crochet Stitches, the Alternate Crochet Stitch creates a soft and subtle fabric for your projects. Read on to learn how to crochet the alternate stitch.
MATERIALS
- ARAN / HEAVY WORSTED WEIGHT YARN
- 5 MM HOOK
- STITCH MARKERS
- SCISSORS
Foundation Chain: Multiples of 2 +1
Begin with a slip knot and chain 15.

1. 2 Single Crochet ( SC ) in the third chain from the hook,

* skip 1 chain, 2 SC in the next chain.

Repeat from * until the end of the chain. Turn your work.

2. Chain 2,

2 SC in the next stitch,

* skip the next stitch, 2 SC in the next stitch.

Repeat from * to the end of the row. Turn your work.

3. Repeat Step 2 until you have reached the necessary amount of stitches / rows needed for your project.
The alternate crochet stitch creates a slightly open fabric with good drape. It also creates an interesting texture to your project. Happy Crocheting!
