
WAISTCOAT STITCH
STITCH TUTORIAL
Also known as the Flat Single Crochet, the Waistcoat Stitch is a variation of the single crochet mimicking the look of knitted fabrics. By the end of this tutorial, you will learn how to crochet the waistcoat stitch.
MATERIALS
Foundation Chain: Any number of chains + 2
Begin with a slip knot and chain 17.

1. Single crochet in the 3rd chain from the hook and in every succeeding chain. Turn your work.

2. Chain 2, Flat Single Crochet in the next stitch and in every stitch in the row. Turn your work.

WAISTCOAT STITCH
Insert your hook into the body of the single crochet in the row below.

The body is located underneath the two horizontal loops of the stitch.

Yarn over and pull up a loop,

yarn over and pull through two loops, completing your flat single crochet.


Repeat Step 2 until you have the necessary amount of stitches needed for your project.

This modified single crochet stitch creates a knitted look for your projects. If the stitches are too tight, try moving up one hook size. Happy crocheting!
