HOW TO: WAISTCOAT STITCH

How to Crochet Waistcoat Stitch

Also known as the Flat Single Crochet (FSC), the Waistcoat Stitch (WC) is a variation of the single crochet mimicking the look of knitted fabrics. Creating rows of this stitch creates a beautiful and dense fabric ideally used for projects that requires a sturdy structure.

FOUNDATION CHAIN: ANY NUMBER OF CHAINS + 2

Begin with a slip knot and chain 17.

ROW 1

Single crochet (SC) in the 3rd chain (CH) from the hook and in every succeeding CH. Turn your work.

ROW 2

CH 2, WC in the next stitch and in every stitch in the row. Turn your work.

The body is located underneath the two horizontal loops of the stitch. Yarn over (YO) and pull up a loop, YO and pull through two loops, completing your flat single crochet.
