Take 2 pieces of Granny Squares and join the right sides together.

* THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GRANNY SQUARE IS SMOOTH AND ITS STITCHES ARE CRISP, THE WRONG SIDE OF THE GRANNY SQUARE IS BUMPY

Secure the yarn/s with a simple knot and sew the squares together on the back loops of every stitch in the row (Photo 2). Fasten off and weave in any loose ends. You will be only sewing one side of the Granny Square. Sew the other two pieces of Granny Squares together.

Take the 2 joined pieces, now rectangular in shape and join with the right sides together. Prepare a longer piece of yarn for this part of the sewing.

Sew the 3 sides of the rectangular fabric together on the back loops of every stitch. Once you have reached the last stitch of the last side of the fabric, fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Turn the pouch inside out before you start creating the strap.

CREATING THE STRAP

PHOTO 5

Take your violet yarn and grey yarn and insert into the sewn portion, in between the 2 long sides of the fabric and secure with a knot. Reinsert your hook into the same area, yarn over and pull up a loop. Take the violet yarn and position onto your fingers. Wind the grey yarn onto the front of the hook and hold into place. Yarn over the violet yarn and pull through the 3 loops on your hook. You now have the violet yarn left on your hook, loop the grey yarn onto the front of the hook, yarn over using the violet yarn and pull through both loops in your hook.

Keep on repeating this pattern until you have reached the desired length for the strap of your Granny Square Pouch.
